New York Shopping Trip

Played hooky from work last Friday and took off to the city with my mom for a tour of the garment district.

Our first stop was Fun 2 Bead on 6th ave.  They offer great deals for their VIP members as well as a discount area in the basement that is hard to beat.  The staff was friendly and I will definitely be back there.  I picked up a bag of charms, findings, and beads from the basement for about $15.  I also got some memory wire for rings.

We then headed down 39th towards 7th and hit B & J Fabrics.  What an amazing place!! We actually touched fabric that was $1000 a yard.  It is very well organized with samples of almost everything (if not everything) in one area which then directs you to the area where the full bolt is stored.

We then meandered down 38th and stopped into Mokuba, East Coast Trim and a few other spots.   All had great items and really good prices.

We then hit the mecca of trim at M&J Trimming on 6th ave.  Very overwhelming but amazing to check it out.

Just next door to M&J is an awesome little bead shop called Genuine Ten Ten.  A definite stop for any serious beader.  Found some amazing amethyst and citrine pendants for not much money.  Another shop I will visit again and again.

I would highly recommend any of these places and I would recommend checking to see if any of them offer a discount with a sales tax ID.  I know Genuine Ten Ten said they would give a discount and some of the others indicated the same on their websites.  Overall not a lot of purchases but lots of good research, a great day one on one with my mom and a nice day off from work.
